Saturday, July 13th. Hartsville Firefighters assisted Captain Kirkner with her evaluation of a new driver/operator of Engine 93.

FF Tom McCool came to HFC from Newport Fire Company in Bensalem. FF McCool was an approved driver/operator of NFC apparatus.

Hartsville Fire Company has a drivers training program that encompasses all the skills needed to promote competent driver/operators. New drivers must first meet the minimal qualifications before they can start training. Once approved to start training, they are assigned a trainer who spends hours reviewing friction loss, driving, and pumping. When training is complete the driver is tested by the training officer. This test involves practical skills as well as a written test.
